Official ceremony for the presentation of credentials of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Sri Lanka

On 27-28 November 2024, an official ceremony for the presentation of credentials of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Sri Lanka, Vahagn Afyan, took place in Colombo.

Copies and originals of the credentials accordingly were handed over to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and the Acting Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, along with the ambassadors of several countries accredited in New Delhi.

Following the ceremony, a brief conversation took place between the Armenian Ambassador and the President of Sri Lanka, which was followed by a meeting between Ambassador Vahagn Afyan and Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Herath.

During the meeting, the development of cooperation in areas of mutual interest within the framework of the traditionally friendly bilateral relations and the expansion of mutually beneficial ties in other possible sectors respectively were emphasised.

The discussion also covered ongoing and prospective issues related to ensuring mutually acceptable cooperation between the two countries within international organizations.
